BEAUTIFUL 13 mile river ride!

BEAUTIFUL 13 mile river ride with my friend Tracy along the Salt River at Coon Bluff in the Tonto National Forest.

This lush green oasis is surrounded by desert and is home to nesting Bald Eagles and a wild horse herd while only a 45 minute drive from our place in north Scottsdale.

Sandman had a great opportunity to practice multiple water crossings and along the way, we were able to fully test our glue on Versa shoes which worked well in the rocks, sand, and water. I was a little concerned that the river mud might suck off the shoes, but they all stayed in place due in large part to Christina’s super diligent and patient gluing protocol and feedback from Ida Hammer, it all worked!!

The Coon Bluff area is a really amazing natural space with trails that go on forever, the pictures don’t do it justice as the diversity of flora and fauna in this green belt is second to none.

If you are in the area, take a short ride over to Coon Bluff, park and hike or ride the trails along the river and bring a fishing rod and throw a spinner for trout and bass, pretty amazing to have this natural space so accessible and close to a large metropolitan area like Phoenix.

Enjoy the ride, this was a good one. 🙂
