Sandman in the Kentucky Derby!

Sandman in the Kentucky Derby!

JUST FOR FUN, and for those who’ve been following Sandman and I, what an OPPORTUNITY, since we aren’t doing endurance rides right now, I thought I’d roll the dice and enter Sandman in the Kentucky Derby.

My reasoning, ya know he had a great 2024 and he’s an off the track race horse, with six races as a four year old, so I thought, what the heck, it’s just the Kentucky Derby, how difficult can this be?

And heck the entry fee, well ya know that’s chump change and if we win, the trophy we get and the $$$ for a Derby win, beats hands down anything we are getting in Endurance, so I said “what do we have to loose”, lets give it a shot” and now here we are, in Kentucky, we entered him and he’s coming out of Gate 17, at 5:1 odds.

Now here’s the important part, you can bet on us at the Harold’s Cowboy Bar in Cave Creek, easy as punch. When you enter the bar, walk all the way back to the back where it’s kinda dark and there aren’t a lot of lights 🙂, (don’t be worried) and you’ll see a window with a metal grate on it, that says “bet here” or something like that and a guy named Johnny or Jimmy, hmm, not sure, name starts with a J though, will take your bet. Tell him I or Coach (password) sent you there and you’ll be fine, really don’t be worried, he’ll take care of you, but not in a mafia sort of way. Now keep in mind, even though you’ll want to, you can’t bet more that $100 on a ticket, so if you want to bet more than $100, you gotta buy a second ticket, and because I referred you, you’ll be fine, and NO I don’t get a 10% kick back for the referral and as the horses owner. It’s all good though because your in Cave Creek and it’s Cowboy safe here and on the up and up 🙂

Lastly, it’s gonna be a wet muddy race and as you know, if you’ve been following our races, Sandman does well in wet conditions and in the dark (not applicable here), even though he likes to lag early in the race and come from behind late, leaving out of Gate 17 works well for him, so don’t be worried and bet the house!!

This is a photo of him in his stall in Kentucky, coming from his stall in AZ at Promise Ranch, he’s clearly not a happy camper, but OK, all joking aside, all this is TRUE, well sort of, but I couldn’t help myself and in all honesty, he’s got a shot. For fun, there’s my Sandman and then there’s that “other” Sandman in the Kentucky Derby.
